So, I wanted to wait until after the Blackout Haunted House - LA Off season was complete before posting my experience. They bill themselves as the most intense haunted house in the world - it’s so crazy that you have to have a safe word and sign a release that allows them the right to physically assault you. A team of psychologist, ex-military interrogators and “fear experts” design it. And, most frightening to me, it’s in pitch dark and you have to go in alone.

I went last year and it was as intense as billed - they even punched my friend in the face - but I wasn’t scared. I felt like the experience was a “creepy day spa” with all the foot licking and being groped. It wasn’t that they lacked in scares - every one else I went with were completely terrified and most of them used the safe word. It would scare 99% percent of people. I’m just one of those people that is a scardey cat about cheesy jump scares and totally non-plussed about simulated violence.
